Venue 6th Airborne Division Promo DVD
Extreme Metal duo, Imperial Vengeance are definitely onto something here. There inventive theme of the British Empire and Military history gives concept Metal a new level and 6th Airborne Division is an amazing track to do so. Intertwined with their Madness cover of Night Boat to Cairo which almost steals the light as the Ska Punk riffs are down tuned and covered with distortion, it is almost impossible to not want to dance about as the tongue in cheek song is engulfed with solos, tight drum beats and under normal circumstances, would appear far too busy and should just sound like a total mash up. However, this works and it does so brilliantly. The video takes on an earlier 19th Century look and seems as manic as the tune itself. Cutting in live shots, England flags, military outfits and old theatrical, black and white magic tricks.

Imperial Vengeance seem to make music as tight and insane as they possibly can, pushing the boundaries of song structure and producing compelling music.

6th Airborne Division is a lot more serious, looking at British war, with the video containing war scenes to open and close. Clothed in traditional war outfits and guitarist Elle Torry looking more of a pirate, the video lacks a lot of substance but the song more than makes up for it, intense and unrelenting, it never takes a breath until it is actually over. A definite must for Bleeding Through fans, raw, gravel like vocals not too different from Norwegian Black Metal vocalist, Satyr of Satyricon haunting synths, blasting drum beats and intricate, hair swinging riffs, solos and anything else you could throw in.

One could only imagine what their live performances contain, which can be made a reality come August when the duo embark on a tour with Sabbat with their full live line up.

Also included on the DVD is a rather moving short video of Harry Patch (17/06/1898 – 25/07/2009), the last survivor from the trenches in the First World War reading a short poem written by “Tubby” Clayton, a fellow solider. At 111, there is an element of sadness and underlying respect to this, proving how seriously they take their song writing.

The single, 6th Airborne Division is due for release on July 12th, second album, The Black Heart Of Empire is due out in November on Transcend Records
