The Haunted
Date
10 Jun 2010
Venue
02 Academy
Currently supporting Slayer after being asked personally, The Haunted take a break to play a few one off, headlining shows between their main tour dates with Kerry King and the gang. These Swedish metal pros prove exactly why they are still going after their fifteen-year career. Coming on stage with a bang and launching through songs spanning their whole career from the classic No Compromise right through to tracks from their latest offering, Versus.
Appearing almost hypnotic as the Bjorler brothers slide through the set whilst being backed by an addicting percussion as front man Peter Dolving hangs off the stage like a monkey, belting out angry lyrics from tracks like Bury Your Dead. Even during instrumental track, Dark Intentions, Dolving flies about the stage, hyping the audience to an extreme before the next installment, chosen so to best represent who The Haunted really are.
Clearly never caught off guard even when the five-man pit caused an injury to one young fan during D.O.A. Commanding the houselights up and signing autographs whilst the ambulance crew removed the injured victim from the venue. To finish their set, The Haunted stormed back on with as much energy as they had at the started, bringing the evening to a close with what they called their favourite “disco tune” Hate Song, met by an almighty applause, with no thought of earlier accidents as the pit filled for the final time.
With The Haunted returning to the studio later this year and a brand new album out sometime in 2011 that will be returning to The Dark Eye sound, the band is filled with sheer excitement and may finally be starting to receive the recognition they have been seeking all these years.
