Gary Numan
Sheffield Academy 25/05/12

Numan's back singles catalogue was performed at the academy in Sheffield, a rare look at his past and conceding to his faithful army of supporters. Even if there is a somewhat reluctance for Numan to do this type of gig he himself embraced the fusion of old and new, performing his many masterpieces.

A clever mix of old, new, new, old etc so punters were not predicting what came next, which kept the gig fresh and paced very effectively. The lighting and sound were vibrant and pleasing as an effective backdrop. Numan looked happier than expected in embracing his audience response to playing his old singles and although his band were more animated with the newer deliveries the gig was well rehearsed and most professional.

With Numans admission of moving to the States and focusing on his next two albums, Joe public should take the opportunity to hear and see one of rocks pioneers at work while you still can. Gary Numan's distinctive sound and uncompromising attitude to push and forge new sounds and barriers are truly refreshing in the days of radio yawn! Thank god for the change in attitude from the music industry to Numans considerable legacy.

Dont miss this, it’s too late next time!!!!!!
